Residency Permits
You can obtain a residence permit in the United Arab Emirates by having your diplomas issued by various educational institutions legalised at the relevant embassy, getting them examined at the time of entry, and referring to an employer in the Emirates who applies for a residence permit. The residence permit is then valid for three years, although this can also be extended.
However, citizenship is only available to those who are married to a citizen of the United Arab Emirates and are Muslim.
Culture in the UAE
In terms of culture and religious practices, it is important to know that the United Arab Emirates is a heavily Islamic country. This means that as an expat of non-Islamic beliefs, one must abide by the various laws related to Islam. Some can be difficult for Europeans to get used to, such as the law prohibiting couples, who are not married, from living together or the one that prohibits the consumption of alcohol in public.

Crime
The United Arab Emirates is generally a very safe country, which, of course, is partly due to the aforementioned strict laws. This means that the crime rate in the country is extremely low and therefore it is a very safe environment for expats and their families.
Language
If you are considering moving to the Emirates, you should be able to speak Arabic as well as English, as this will greatly facilitate many situations in everyday and professional life.
