Moving to the Canary Islands: The Canary Islands is an autonomous region and archipelago of Spain which has two capitals, Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The islands are actually closer to Africa than Spain being only 100 kilometres off the north western coast of the African continent. The archipelago is a group of some of Spains most popular islands including Tenerife, La Palma, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria , La Gomera, El Hierro and some smaller islands.

The islands were actually formed from volcanic eruptions more than 80 million years ago and still has the third largest volcano in the world and Spain’s tallest mountain, Mount Teide at 3,718 metres tall. The Canary Islands are extremely popular with expats and tourists from around the world, especially those from Northern Europe. The islands are very different and so offer a contrast of lifestyles, from lively party resorts to more cultural, traditional and family oriented islands.
