Moving to Turkey | Emigrating to Turkey
Moving to Turkey: Turkey is a relatively popular destination for many expats from all over the world. There are many reasons for this; an extremely interesting culture, a relaxed lifestyle, beautiful landscapes, and the world-renowned Turkish cuisine. The extroverted nature of the Turks is also a major factor why so many people decide to make Turkey their new adopted country.
Turkey also attracts people with its Mediterranean to subtropical climate, which promises pleasant, sunny and summery weather all year round. In this regard, Turkey is a true paradise, and the best way to enjoy the great weather is to choose one of the many coastal cities in the country.
With very warm summers, as well as extremely mild winters, Turkey is a great choice for those expats who love the sun and want to live in an area where the temperatures are pleasant all year round.

Cost of Living
The relatively moderate cost of living found in Turkey, especially in contrast to Switzerland, is an important reason why many expats decide to make the move. However, not everything is as cheap as people expect. Although Turkish products are relatively cheap, imported goods can sometimes be surprisingly expensive.
Of course, there are also significant differences between the respective regions and cities of Turkey. Istanbul is relatively expensive whereas the coastal cities on the Aegean coast, as well as those of the Mediterranean, can be described as cheaper.
For example, the cities of Antalya, Alanya, Marmaris, Datca and Bodrum are especially popular with international expats.
Health & Education System
In general, it is advisable for international expats who decide to move to Turkey to take out private health insurance. Turkey has excellent medical standards, but, it is usually much better in private hospitals and medical facilities where they can also speak English.
The education system can also be described as relatively high-quality, with numerous expats relying on private schools, as well as universities. As in the health service, a better quality of education is offered in the private sector.
Also, religion does not have as high a status in private schools as it does in many state educational institutions in the country. International schools can be found in many cities around the country and you will find a large selection of different institutions.
Working in Turkey
If you want to find a job and work in Turkey, you will not only need a residence permit, but also a work permit. However, this is tied to the respective workplace, whereby the Turkish employer must prove that he cannot find a Turkish citizen who can fill this job.
In addition to this, one must also be able to prove that they have the appropriate training, education or experience in the respective industry, for which they are applying to in Turkey.
This often makes the job search in Turkey relatively difficult, and it is definitely helpful if you have a high level of education. Alternatively, of course, you can come to a job in Turkey through an international company. Say, for example, you get the offer within your current company to move to a Turkish city or you seek to relocate yourself to Turkey and then have the opportunity to continue to work for the same company.
In general, however, Turkey is also extremely popular with expats that already have a degree of financial security and are moving to Turkey to enjoy the significantly lower cost of living.
