La Gomera is one of the smallest Canary Islands and is in the Santa Cruz de Tenerife province of Spain, just off the coast of Africa. It is a stunning island with beautiful sandy beaches surrounded by cliffs, a mountainous interior and the Garajonay forest. The capital city is San Sebastián de La Gomera and the highest peak is Alto de Garajonay.
LA Gomera is more traditional than some of the other Canary Islands in that it has a smaller number of expats and a more local feel. The island has a lower density of people compared to the other islands which means you can enjoy the imposing mountains, deserted beaches and traditional villages with very few people around. It is also the last place in the world that still has a whistling language called Silbo Gomero which is spoken by The Guanches, the original people of the island.
