Working in Sri Lanka
The work situation in Sri Lanka is not as promising as it is in many other countries where expats move to. As a foreigner, it is generally relatively difficult to find a paid job, whereas there are countless offers for volunteering and involvement in aid projects.
However, expats who would like to work in Sri Lanka should ensure that they have a job secured before they arrive, and in the best case, an employer that takes over all official matters.
It is best, however, if someone is already financially secure or earns money with an activity that can take place independently. If this is the case, people can live a very comfortable life in Sri Lanka.
Climate
The general climate in Sri Lanka can be described as a tropical monsoon climate, where between mid-May and late September, the rainy southwest monsoon predominates on the west and southwest coast. The east, as well as the northeast, remain rather dry during this period. But, from October to April, the northeast monsoon becomes active, which causes precipitation.
The humidity in Sri Lanka is generally high, but during the transitional periods between the monsoons, it is always humid, with regular rainfall.
The temperatures in Sri Lanka vary only slightly and are relatively high throughout the year, with the northeast being slightly warmer than the rather humid southwest. From March to June, temperatures reach their highest level, with the coolest period in Sri Lanka from November to January.
Health & Education
The healthcare system in Sri Lanka is relatively well developed but it is not comparable to Western standards. This is why most of the expats who choose to move to Sri Lanka turn to private health insurance companies, which provide better medical treatment.
Even though the healthcare system in Sri Lanka is considered exemplary, private medical institutions in the country still offer higher-quality treatments and so it is advisable to take out such insurance.
The education system in Sri Lanka is in relatively good condition, but most expats with children decide to send them to private schools or universities. Expats who are interested in studying in Sri Lanka should also look towards private universities, as they tend to offer a better quality of education.

Cost of Living
The low cost of living in Sri Lanka is certainly a very important aspect for many expats who decide to move to Sri Lanka. It is far cheaper to live comfortably in Sri Lanka than it is in most of Europe, which means you can do much more on far less money.
This is noticeable in most goods, which means you can live your everyday life on significantly less money. This is a very pleasant feeling for many emigrants and is a major reason for them choosing to move to Sri Lanka.
Language
Those who really want to immerse themselves in the Sri Lankan culture and integrate into the society of the country should definitely master Sinhalese and Tamil to a moderate level. But if you can’t, the English language is spoken by a large portion Sri Lanka.
The majority of people in Sri Lanka speak Sinhalese, with Tamil being used by a considerable number of people in Sri Lanka. So it makes perfect sense to learn both languages in order to communicate with the entire population of the country and to get to know them better.
