Language & Culture

Those who visit Japan are confronted with a culture that is very different, but nevertheless incredibly interesting. Be it the high status placed towards family, the general importance of the social position in Japanese society, the different behaviours and social norms, or even the relatively difficult Japanese language.

One of the reasons for this is that despite their comparatively high level of education, Japanese people often have insufficient English language skills.  It must be said that learning the Japanese language is vital in order to be happy in Japan, as it affects both social and professional life.

Health & Education

The health care available in Japan is world-renowned and is therefore of high quality. Anyone that is living in Japan long-term is required by law to obtain either Employee or National Health Insurance. Expats can also obtain further Private Health Insurance if they so wish.

Japan is particularly attractive for families because of the high level of education and a large number of international schools, frequented by both Japanese and international children. In general, education is very important in Japan, which means that it is investing heavily in the education sector in order to guarantee a highly skilled population.

Working in Japan

In general, it is not particularly difficult to find a job in the big cities of Japan. Demand for English-speaking people is particularly high in many sectors, which means that expats have a good chance of finding a suitable job. However, if you do not want to do any of the easy-to-get entry-level jobs, for which you do not need much training, you should have high-level qualifications or a good network of contacts.

Japan is such an attractive country for expatriates working for business reasons because the economy is booming and is actually one of the strongest in the world. But if you want a well-paid and sought-after job in Japan, a great deal of importance is placed on education and professionalism.

Furthermore, in terms of overall security, Japan is an excellent destination as crime is always relatively low, making it an extremely safe place to live.
