Moving to Chile: Chile is a South American country on the southwest of the continent, which is particularly popular with worldwide expats for a variety of reasons. Some examples are its enchanting nature, fantastic sandy beaches and the extraordinary Andes. The Andes is a region that hosts great winter sports as well having fascinating islands, where people take weekend trips to experience paradise.
Chile is also the country with the highest Human Development Index in South America, which of course contributes to the country’s popularity with foreigners who want to make it their new home.

Working in Chile
Chile is certainly a great destination for experienced expats or expatriates with a good education. It is home to one of the most successful economies in South America and offers many job opportunities for expats looking to work.
In principle, it is always advisable to seek a job in an international company, as these usually offer better pay and are well represented in Chile.
The best case scenario is that you are already working for an international group and only have to apply for a transfer to Chile. This is the easiest way to find a suitable job in Chile, and of course you can arrive without the stress of job hunting. It is particularly helpful if you have some promising contacts that will help you gain employment and help in general life.
Cost of living
Although Chile is not the cheapest country in Latin American, the cost of living is much lower than it is in Switzerland, which is an important consideration for expats when deciding to move to Chile.
However, if you are looking for a particularly cheap country in Latin America, Chile should not be shortlisted, as even though prices tend to be cheaper than in Europe, it is not as great as it is in Brazil, Peru or even Ecuador.
Climate
The climate in Chile varies by region, with relatively mild temperatures in the mountainous north, ranging from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. The Atacama Desert, the region between the Andes and the coast, is one of the driest places on the planet, and has sometimes no precipitation for years.
The climate in Central Chile can be described as Mediterranean, as there are significant differences between its winter and summer. The change of season is particularly pronounced, with the regions of central Chile being more fertile and densely populated.
In the south of the country, the population density is relatively low. It is a place that experiences a large amount of rainfall and where you will find the largest number of islands in Chile. The temperatures here are rather cool, with an average of about 10 degrees Celsius in the winter, going up to 20 degrees Celsius in the summer.

Health & Education System
Chile generally has a relative modern health care system that can be compared to European standards. But, you will only gain access to the best medical care if you take out private health insurance. This is the only option for expats relocating to Chile and is absolutely recommended.
The education system in Chile is considered to be relatively high quality, which is why you can trust both government and private institutions. International schools can be found in Santiago de Chile and the coastal town of La Serena.
Language
In Chile, as in almost all Latin American countries, it is particularly important to speak Spanish, at least to a decent level. English language skills are not as widespread as they are in other parts of the world.
Being able to speak Spanish allows for a deeper immersion into the culture, opens up better opportunities to meet the locals and to make great friendships, and also makes life much easier. More importantly, Spanish is a prerequisite for a job in most companies.
