Moving to Morocco: Morocco is a particularly diverse country in northern Africa and is the preferred destination for many expats from all over the world. The attractions to the kingdom for expats are the beautiful coastal regions by the sea, impressive mountain ranges such as the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara desert, which extends extensively over a large area of the country.
The climate of Morocco varies depending on where in the country you are. Expats, who want to avoid the volume of Morocco’s larger cities, should consider settling in the quieter areas of the country, where the population is also different from that in the city. Moroccans are generally very friendly, open and enthusiastic people and therefore it is not particularly difficult to integrate into the society of the new homeland and to participate in Moroccan social life.

Foreigners wishing to move to Morocco as a result of a career change should note that foreigners are not allowed to work for Moroccan companies. In most cases, it is not a relevant option anyway, as wage levels are generally relatively low here, especially if you compare it to that of Switzerland.
However, it is permissible for Immigrants to open a business in Morocco which is extremely cheap to do and very few regulations are required. That said, anyone who chooses the path of self-employment should speak either French or Arabic at a proficient level, as this is necessary in order to be successful in the long term. This is because although English is the third national language, it is not nearly as widespread as either French or Arabic.
Morocco is also popular because of its very low cost of living and because it has expats from all over the world. They include people who enjoy their retirement, work independently or have one of the few jobs for international companies paying Western-oriented salaries. Even those people, who are commercially active here and are successful, can in many cases enjoy a great life in prosperity.
However, when moving to Morocco, it is important to bear in mind that the long-term stay for expats is limited to 10 years. This means that the country is not necessarily suitable for those who wish to stay in their new home beyond that time limit.
Languages in Morocco
Language skills in either French or Arabic should be to a decent standard when moving to Morocco. English, although relatively widespread, is not used often in everyday life. Mastery of the French and Arabic languages will definitely help you to get connected quickly and to find your way around Morocco in general life.
